Mumbai: Graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is itself a big achievement for anyone. Most IIT graduates travel off-shores for better opportunities and a standard of living.
But of this IIT alumnus, Kishore Indukuri is a tad different from others. After graduating from IIT Kharagpur, Kishore went on to pursue his master’s degree and subsequently PhD from the United States.
Quite naturally, he landed a high-paying job at an American tech giant and life was never so smooth for him.
However, the perks of the tech job couldn’t somehow satisfy Kishore as he yearned to be back to his simple life, reported India.com.
After completing his masters’ and PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Kishore worked for Intel for six years. But this was the end to it.
An unsatisfied Kishore quit his Intel job and came back to India, to his hometown in Karnataka.
During his visit to Hyderabad, Kishore realised that the city’s dearth of options for safe and hygienic milk. A business idea instantly came to his mind.
Kishore started his own dairy in 2012 investing in just 20 cows. He and his family began milking cows themselves and delivered organic milk directly to the customers’ doorsteps.
Later on, the family invested in an install-freeze-store system to maintain the longevity of the milk from the time of milking to reaching the customers.
Six years down the line, in 2018, Kishore’s dairy farm “Sid’s Farm” had over 6,000-customer base and was delivering in and around Hyderabad. The firm was named after his son Sidharth.
AS on date, his farm at Shabad has spread its wings with 120 staff to achieve annual revenue of close to Rs 44 crore. Not just milk, Kishore also sells organic milk products — curd and ghee. Sid’s Farm now caters to approximately 10,000 customers on a regular basis.
