Kolkata: The top brass of Trinamool Congress had a high-level meeting with disgruntled party heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday.
The meeting, which lasted for two hours, happened at a place in north Kolkata.
TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and election strategist Prashant Kishor met Suvendu, who resigned as a minister in the West Bengal government last week, following which the party claimed that all the issues have been resolved.
Senior party leaders Saugata Roy and Sudip Bandopadhyay were also present in the meeting.
“The meeting was extremely well. Suvendu said he is very much in the party. He is not going anywhere,” said Roy
Sisir Adhikari, father of disgruntled legislator from Nandigram in East Midnapore, welcomed what emerged at the meeting. He said: “This is a good development for the party,” as quoted by IANS.
After his resignation, speculations were rife if Suvendu would join BJP ahead of the crucial state Assembly polls scheduled in 2021.
The state BJP leaders had said that they would welcome Adhikari if he wants to join the saffron brigade in Bengal.
