Kolkata: Rebel Trinamool Congress leader and minister Suvendu Adhikari is likely to end months of suspense this week by formally joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, as reported by CNN News 18.

Adhikari has been at loggerheads with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and has not been attending state cabinet meetings.

His induction is likely to happen during Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the state later this week. Adhikari is expected to travel to Delhi before switching sides. He is also expected to be given security by the Union home ministry.

TMC has already decided that it will not take any further initiative to convince the disgruntled Adhikari to remain in the party. However, the party is open to hear him – if at all he has to say something to Banerjee.

On November 27, Adhikari raised the political temperature by resigning from Banerjee’s cabinet.
