Tokyo: India’s Sumit Antil won the gold medal (Sport Class F64) in the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Tokyo Paralympics on Monday. He won with a world-record throw of 68.55m in his best attempt.
Meanwhile, discus thrower Vinod Kumar will no longer sport the smile following his disqualification in the F52 category at the Tokyo Paralympics. The BSF personnel and son of a former soldier who bagged the bronze on Sunday, has been stripped of his medal by the competition panel on eligibility grounds, reported PTI.
According to the statement released by the panel, Vinod Kumar could not be allocated a sport class and hence “designated Classification not Completed (CNC).”
Kumar’s bronze was challenged by some of his rivals and the complaint was referred to the competition panel. Kumar’s classification was completed on August 22.
