Mumbai: Mohammad Azharuddin scored a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Mumbai last month. He was successful in securing the innings, which were the high scores of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), among many eye donations.
The Bangalore-based franchise worked by purchasing the 26-year-old at a base price of INR 20 lakhs. In the process, the franchise helped the Kerala keeper-batsman realize a dream: playing alongside Virat Kohli.
This became better immediately after the auction when he received a message from an unknown number.
“Two minutes after the auction, Virat brother messaged me saying, ‘welcome to RCB, all the best. Virat here.’ The message made me very emotional. this is not something i could have even imagined in my dream to give a message,” said Mohammad Azharuddin.
The feeling of getting that message can only get better when he captains and advises a player that he looks as a symbol of the game.
“It’s something i’m very happy about. Virat bhai is someone whom i see as a cricket icon. playing with Virat bhai has always been a dream of mine. I am very excited and very happy to be on the same team as him,” added Azharuddin.
