Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday, named state ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim along with TMC MLA Madan Mitra and former city Mayor Sovan Chatterjee in its chargesheet in the Narada case. The chargesheet was filed before a special court. The accused have been summoned to appear in the court on November 16.
The Narada sting operation dates back to 2016, when several TMC leaders were purportedly caught accepting bribes on camera. The sting was conducted by journalist Mathew Samuel.
Hakim, Mitra, Mukherjee and Chatterjee were earlier arrested by CBI just after TMC’s thumping victory in the Assembly polls this year. They later got bail. An infuriated CM Mamata Banerjee held a protest outside the CBI office in the state capital against the arrests terming them ‘vendetta politics’ allegedly by the BJP-led Union government.
