Kyiv: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv is requesting a fast-track NATO membership following Russia’s formal annexure of Ukraine’s four Moscow-held regions.
“We have already proven our compatibility with (NATO) alliance standards,” Zelensky was quoted as saying in a video posted by the Ukrainian presidency on social media.
“We are taking a decisive step by signing Ukraine’s application for accelerated accession to NATO,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.
According to the Ukraine President, Kyiv would not negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin was the President. It may be recalled Russia sent troops to Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
“Ukraine will not hold any negotiations with Russia as long as Putin is the president of the Russian Federation. We will negotiate with the new president,” said the Ukraine president.
