Washington: The Georgia Secretary of State-Brad Raffensperger said “with a margin that small there will be a recount,” as quoted by The Indian Express.
He said that 4,169 votes still remain to be counted and about 8,000 military absentee ballots are still in the mail. They will only be counted if they arrive by the end of the day.
The results of the Presidential elections may take more time than it is expected frustrating the Americans who are eager to know their president for the next four years.
President Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent Joe Biden are currently facing a tight contest to secure 270 electoral votes that are needed to win the presidency.
As of now, neither candidate has reached the magic number. But Biden has surpassed Trump in Wisconsin and Michigan which are two Midwestern battleground states. He also holds a lead in Georgia and Pennsylvania early on Friday, according to AP tally.
Biden has also beaten Trump in the number of ballots counted in the state, which Trump must win for a re-election. Now, Biden got about 6,000-vote advantage. As per AP tally, the Democrat had 264 Electoral College votes whereas the Republican had 214.
There are still thousands of uncounted ballots. Meanwhile, many are being counted where Biden was already in the lead.
Though, it was unclear whether the winner would be decided by the coronavirus and its effects on the people of America and it’s economy.
Meanwhile, Trump is trying all possible measures of presidential power to undermine confidence in this week’s election against Biden as he gained lead in key battleground states.
On Thursday, Trump accused his rival Joe Biden of vote fraud to. The incumbent alleged that his opponent tried to seize power. It was an extraordinary effort by a sitting American President to sow doubt about the democratic process.
