Kolkata: The West Bengal cabinet was sworn in at the Raj Bhavan on Monday morning. The 43-member cabinet had its first meeting on the same day.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had done the work of allocating offices among these ministers. Initially, it is evident that Amit Mitra is returning as the finance minister of the state.
Partha Chatterjee will be the Minister for Industry, Commerce, Information Technology and Parliamentary Affairs. Subrata Mukherjee will look after the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. Aroop Biswas is getting Electricity and Firhad Hakim transport.
However, the food and supplies department is not staying under Jyotipriya Mallick any more. Mallick is getting the forest department. Rathin Ghosh will be in charge of the food and supplies department instead.
In the third cabinet of Mamata Banerjee, the responsibilities of many ministers have changed. The Chief Minister has given the responsibility of the Animal Resources Development Department to trusted Swapan Debnath.
At the same time, Mamata Banerjee has handed over the independent responsibility of the tourism department to another trusted hand Indranil Sen as well as the responsibility of the state minister of the information and culture department.
