Kolkata: In the build-up to the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021, the Ariadaha Abagahan Samity (AAS) urged all the political parties to abstain from shouting ‘religious’ slogans. The non-political organisation said this at a press conference at the Kolkata Press Club on Saturday.
“The Indian Constitution doesn’t allow any religious interference into the democratic process of election. But the ways few parties are raising slogans like ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and others are actually violating the law of the land,” one of the organisers, Pravash Hazra told The Lateralz.
According to Hazra, the constitution should be followed in letter and spirit and religion should not come in the electoral process come what may.
