Kolkata: Putting rest to all speculation, the West Bengal government has declared that the secondary (Madhyamik) and higher secondary (Uchcha Madhyamik) examinations will be conducted in August and July, respectively.
Despite the Covid situation, the state government is going to arrange the two examinations this time.
Speaking at a press conference at the state Secretariat, Navanna on Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the details would be announced by Education Minister Bratya Basu.
However, it has been decided in principle that the secondary examination will be held later in the second week of August. The Higher Secondary exam will be taken in the last week of July.
The Chief Minist further said that there are reasons to do the higher secondary examination first. The admission for higher education and entrance examinations are held after higher Secondary examination and so is the decision.
