Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has registered a landslide victory in the West Bengal municipal elections notching 102 of the 108 municipalities.
Out of the 102 civic bodies, TMC won, there was no opposition in 31 municipalities. Following the victory, Banerjee congratulated all the winning party candidates and expressed gratitude over the “overwhelming mandate”.
The Left Front secured its victory in Nadia’s Taherpur Municipality. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) though failed to open its account. The Congress too couldn’t manage a single seat. Surprisingly, the newly-formed Humro Party won the Darjeeling Municipality.
