Kolkata: Singer Yo Yo Honey Singh’s wife Shalini Singh has accused him of domestic torture and adultery which has stirred a hornet’s nest. But Bollywood is no new to such controversies involving big names. Be it married couples or stars in a relationship, trading such barbs is no uncommon phenomenon in the tinsel town.
Here’s a look
Aishwarya Rai & Salman Khan: The ’90s love birds had a tumultuous end to their relationship after news of Salman’s violent behaviour played spoilsport. Such was the seriousness of the matter that there were even reports of Salman beating up Ash though the latter always maintained a dignified silence. In fact, Aishwarya reportedly wore spectacles at an awards show to apparently hide the scar marks.

Karisma Kapoor & Sunjay Kapur: After breaking up with Abhishek Bachchan, Karisma found solace in businessman Sunjay’s arms but their fairy tale marriage didn’t last long when Karisma shifted to her mother’s house in Mumbai with her kids. In fact Karisma even alleged in an interview that Sunjay wanted her to sleep with his friend which she refused.

Dimpy and Rahul Mahajan: A reality show played cupid but the marriage turned spiteful, when Dimpy cried foul alleging she was mentally and physically tortured by Rahul. The love affair came to a sudden stalemate before the two parted ways.

Nandita & Om Puri: The versatile actor married twice but on both occasions, he failed to live up to the reputation of being a loyal husband. If his first wife Seema blamed his affair with Nandita for their failed marriage, Nandita in his biography Om Puri: The Unusual Hero, which she authored, wrote about Om’s sexual capers that didn’t go down well with the late actor and led to irreconcilable differences between the two.

Shweta Tiwari-Raja Chaudhari-Abhinav Kohli: The popular TV actress has been simply unlucky in marriage. If her first husband Raja Chaudhari was a wife-beater according to her, she even charged her second Abhinav with having indulged in domestic violence. And needless to say, the media had a feast over such trading of allegations. In fact, Shweta also spoke about how her daughter Palak was a witness to the regular physical abuse inflicted on her by both her husbands.
