Kabul: In another desperate attempt to showcase their moderate image, the Taliban administration has decided to allow Afghan girls to study in universities albeit in gender-segregated classrooms and attired in hijab. Women will also have access to post-graduate courses according to the hardline group.
Higher education minister, Abdul Baqi Haqqani announced this stricture as reported by news agency AP. Since the Taliban insurgency, there have been doubts raised on the status of women in the embattled nation. Though the Taliban leaders have tried to display a softening of stance, the ground reality depicts a contradictory picture with the fairer sex hitting the streets for their fundamental rights.
