Yami Gautam Dhar Appeals To Portals For Recognition To Actresses

Mumbai: Parity between male and female actors has been a long-standing subject of debate in the Hindi film industry. And now actress Yami Gautam Dhar has called out on critics who have arrogantly overlooked Jacqueline Fernandez and her performances in Bhoot Police co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor.

Taking to Twitter, the actress expressed her ire, “Thank you for the feedback but it’s high time for media portals to start acknowledging the fact that a film belongs to the female counterparts as well & to be respectfully mindful while penning their headlines!”

In fact several actresses including Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut have been quite vocal about the due they deserve. Deepika walked out on a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film because she reportedly wanted to be treated on an equal platform with her husband Ranveer Singh in terms of fees. Similarly, Kareena Kapoor Khan made headlines when she demanded Rs 12 crore to play Sita on the big screen. With Yami joining the bandwagon asking for uniformity, the protest has received another shot in the arm.
