Washington DC: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held talks on a range of issues of mutual interests with Kamala Harris, USA’s first Vice President of Indian origin. During the bilateral meeting, Harris appealed to Pakistan to refrain from helping terror groups which are wreaking havoc all over the world especially the sub-continent.

After the meeting, both delivered a joint statement. Admirations were shared and the two countries vowed to take their relationship to newer heights. Modi, who is currently in the US capital to attend the QUAD Summit, is slated to meet President Joe Biden today. Here are some key points made by Modi and Harris, courtesy ANI.

Narendra Modi:

The people of India are waiting to welcome you. I extend to you an invitation to visit India

Your election as Vice President of USA has been an important and historic event. You’re a source of inspiration for many across the world. I’m confident that under President Joe Biden and your leadership our bilateral relations will touch new heights

I express my gratitude to the US for extending a helping hand to India when India was hit by the second wave of COVID19

India and America are natural partners; we have similar values, geopolitical interests, and our coordination and cooperation is also increasing

The vibrant and strong people to people connections between India and the US is a bridge between our two countries, their contributions are praiseworthy

Kamala Harris:

I welcome India’s announcement that it will soon be able to resume vaccine exports. It is particular note and admiration that India is currently vaccinating approximately 10 million people a day as of today

When India experienced the surge of COVID in the country, the United States was proud to support India in its need & its responsibility to vaccinate its people

Early in the pandemic, India was vital source of vaccines for other countries. When India experienced surge of COVID in the country, the United States was proud to support India in its need and responsibility to vaccinate its people
